Victorian Crime Series

Shadow of the Ripper

There is a dark shadow approaching Victorian London. The horrific murders attributed to Jack the Ripper are still fresh in the minds of the people of Whitechapel. The original killings ceased after five mutilated prostitutes were discovered, but many believed there were more. Jack had never been identified and nobody knew whether he was alive, dead or even still walking the streets of Whitechapel.

And now, a spate of new murders in another part of London. The victims were all known to each other. But soon, the killings move to the dark streets and alleyways of Whitechapel. Not only are prostitutes butchered, but their clients and those who stand to stop him.

Detective Inspector John Newbury of Scotland Yard is called to lead the investigation. His theories and methods are unconventional and soon, he is under extreme pressure from the commissioner and government to catch the killer as the body count mounts up.

But he has a theory that no one else accepts; that the killer may not be Jack the Ripper returned, but a new devil, one in female form.

Claws of the Ripper

A young woman frantically runs through parkland in the East End of  Victorian London. Behind her, she hears the barking of the dogs getting closer. When the body is discovered in Whitechapel, the police find a trail leading to a new church, one with an exclusive congregation of the rich and powerful. It is led by the Apostle who predicts the world will soon end. Unfortunately, there is no evidence to link the church to the killing.

It is then that the murders begin again in Whitechapel. Several years have passed since Jack the Ripper terrorised those streets. And soon, the body count increases. Each body has been mutilated by what appears to be long sharp claws.

Scotland Yard is called in. Inspector Newbury and Sergeant Roberts soon find things are not what they seem. Their enquiries are blocked by powers within the government. Can Newbury and Roberts solve a case they cannot investigate and just who is the real shadowy figure behind it all?

Return of the Ripper

He stalked the streets of Whitechapel and killed without mercy. His victims were left desecrated, some with their internal organs on display. The name given to this killer was Jack the Ripper, a name which filled every heart with dread. But after the deaths of the Canonical Five, he vanished. There followed copycat killers but none had the finesse of the original.

But now the killings have returned. Young women are butchered and desecrated. Inspector Newbury and Sergeant Roberts of Scotland Yard are called to investigate. However, they are not just up against Jack, but members of the government who are looking for a scapegoat and revenge.

Another investigator is Rebecca Chapman, a reporter for the London Globe. Her inquiry will take her closer to the killer than she thought. And as the body count increases, one thing becomes clear… The Ripper has Returned!

Vampires of London

They came from a country far away. They hunted down victims, killed them and drank their blood. They had spread fear across Europe but now they had reached London. Bodies began to appear on the streets of Whitechapel and soon the locals suspected that the Ripper had returned from the dead. Their terror was set in stone when the victims’ bodies were left mutilated in the same style as the Ripper had done.

What sort of demons were they? Inspector Newbury and Sergeant Roberts of Scotland Yard could not explain if the Ripper or some knew terror now walked the streets of Whitechapel. But soon, it became clear they were not hunting one killer, but a group of blood-drinking killers who called themselves the “Family of Blood.”

As the body count rose, gangs of vigilantes formed and roamed the streets looking for revenge on anyone they suspected. Such was the fear, that they armed themselves with guns and this attracted the attention of the Fenian Brotherhood, an established army of Irish terrorists. They had money, weapons, explosives and now a willing group they could arm and create further death and chaos.

With the government threatening to bring the army in, London was about to become a war zone. And in the middle, attacked from all sides, were Detectives Newbury and Roberts of Scotland Yard. To make matters even more complicated, Rebecca Chapman, investigative reporter for the London Globe, smelt a huge story and intended that nothing would stop her from uncovering the truth.

And then there were the Elders. They ruled the country of blood drinkers. They arrived in London with long knives in their coats and murder in their minds.

It was a recipe for a perfect storm.
